Overview of the IRECDP Training Modules
- Village training programme; Training by practical trainers of the IRECDP in the village on chainsaw handling, maintenance, safety, directional felling, chainsaw mill and portable sawmill operation and maintenance
- Training courses at the IRECDP Head office, two weeks' training on same issues as the village training, but more in-depth on maintenance and repairs. Also basic forest management is taught. Participants are the persons (two per project) who proved to be leading ones in the bush work during the training in the village
- Train the trainer courses for the Programme's Practical trainers; refreshing their memories and testing their skills, especially on transferring their knowledge
- Business development training; general awareness for the whole village on running a small business and basic bookkeeping taught to the manager/bookkeeper of the project
- Bookkeeping/management courses; conducted at a central point with two people (manager/bookkeeper) per project participating
- Role of directors courses; during a village based course the business directors are made aware of what is and what is not their responsibility within the company
- On the job business development training; regular supporting training visits of the Business Development Officer of the Programme
- Marketing training; assistance and training in marketing the produced timber and training in quality control and quality improvement of the timber sawn.
- Forest management training; village based training in pre-harvest inventory, tree selection and marking, tending of natural regeneration and replanting.
