Non-timber forest products are biological resources other than timber which are harvested from either natural or managed forests. Examples include fruits, nuts, oil seeds, latexes, resins, gums, medicinal plants, spices, wildlife and wildlife products, dyes, ornamental plants, and raw materials such as bamboo and rattan. The fruits shown on the left, rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum), tampui (Baccaurea motleyana) and lansat (Lansium domesticum), are valuable non-timber resources in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo).
