Things You Can Do To Save Biodiversity

One of the most commonly asked questions that we get is:

"What can I do to help save the planet's biodiversity?"

Given the BCN's focus on enterprise-based approaches to conservation, an obvious set of answers might be:

• Buy the products that BCN grantees are producing.

• Visit the ecotourism sites that our partners are developing.

• Support other "green" businesses.

BUT......

.....although we're trying to figure out to what degree environmentally oriented businesses can contribute to conservation....at this point we don't have enough information to know for sure if this approach will really work.

All that we can say for sure is that conservation ultimately depends on human decisions. We humans will only save biodiversity to the extent that we value it. And conservation-linked enterprises are one way of to give value to it.

Over time, we hope that together we can figure out what can be done to save biodiversity.

In the meantime, we can only ask that you become involved in this process.

• Learn as much as you can about these issues.

• Become a part of our online community working to improving our collective knowledge.

• Make your voice heard in political debates.

• Reduce your consumption of material goods.

• Plan to have only as many children as you really want.
