Rafting, Honey, and Butterflies in the Rain Forest of Sulawesi

Rattan -- here being stripped and processed for local use -- is an important forest product for local communities. But it is also a valued export material. Illegal rattan harvesting represents one of the more serious threats to Lore Lindu National Park, especially in the southern part of the Park, which is close to large commercial operations that export semi-processed rattan to markets around the world.
