BSP's Africa & Madagascar Program
Sustainable Use and Biodiversity
Enhancing understanding of sustainable use of natural
resources and developing capacity of regional groups.
The Sustainable Use and Biodiversity project was designed to help USAID
bureaus, missions, and partners better understand issues and advances
in sustainable use of biodiversity in Africa. A large part of the project
involved support to IUCN's Sustainable Use Initiative, including strengthening the capacity
of the regional Sustainable Use Specialist Groups in West, Central,
East, and Southern Africa, and cofunding of a Pan-African Symposium on Sustainable
Use in 2000.
