We wish to thank all the local ICCN conservators and staff who have contributed through their continued commitment. We thank the direction of ICCN in Kinshasa, which has permitted the essential flexibility needed so that site staff could negotiate with local authorities and still maintain their identity and allegiance to their national conservation organization. We thank the German Aid Organization, G.T.Z. for supporting the central ICCN authority. Likewise, we recognize the essential role assumed by each and every international conservation organization that has maintained a long-term commitment to the DRC, and we also recognize the often critical role of other organizations that have contributed funding and expertise on specific occasions. Finally, we place our hopes in the following generations and particularly in the hands of those Congolese who will insist on living with their natural heritage.
