As part of our work on the certification of environmentally friendly aquaculture, WWF is hosting a series of Aquaculture Dialogues in order to move toward identifying criteria for the certification of sustainable aquaculture. These dialogues are species or species-group specific gatherings of a wide range of stakeholders including producers and other members of the market chain, researchers, NGOs, government officials, and investors. The goal of each dialogue is to identify and discuss 1) the main environmental impacts of aquaculture of the given species group globally and 2) better management practices that reduce those impacts to acceptable levels. Participants at each dialogue will also develop a generally acceptable strategy for moving forward.
