Virtual Camp
Climate Camp brought together over 150 conservationists, scientists and academics from around the world, and provided the tools needed to redesign conservation approaches to include climate change.

Climate Camp helps conservation practitioners, resource managers and others grappling with what to do about climate change develop a plan. The week is split into three stages: Learning, doing and sharing. Climate Campers learn climate change basics, interact with experts and peers to develop project plans, and in the end share projects and develop resource networks to support your work forward in this field.
Climate Change Primer - An overview of climate change science, policy, communications and adaptation/preparedness.
Introduction
Presentation Video
Carter Robert, President and CEO of WWF, welcomes everyone to Climate Camp and discusses the importance of working on adaptation.
Corporate, social and environmental responsibility
Presentation PDF | Video
Pat Tiernan, Vice President, Corporate, Social & Environmental Responsibility at HP, discusses how HP is responding to climate change and its broader corporate, social and environmental responsibility strategy.
Climate change science
Presentation PDF | Video
Dr. Schneider, Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Stanford University, discusses the climate change science and impacts and the need to have it translated into public policy.
Climate change communications
Presentation Video
Bruce Hamilton, Deputy Executive Director, Sierra Club, discusses the importance and difficulties of designing effective climate change communications strategies and how it can be an effective role in our climate change work.
Policy primer
Presentation PDF | Video
Gary Cooke, Deputy Director, ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability -USA provides a global political primer on climate change policy and what local and state governments are doing to help reduce carbon emissions.
Public engagement
Presentation PDF | Video
Claire Carlton, WWF Climate Witness Program, and David Aplin, WWF Senior Program Officer of Bering Sea, discuss how the Climate Witness Program is creating a community to educate the broader public on the impacts of climate change and how this tool can engage and empower people to take steps to slow climate change.
Climate change adaptation and resilience building
Presentation PDF | Video
Dr. Lara Hansen discusses adaptation and how it fits into the new conservation paradigm that exists under climate change.
In-depth Workshops
Integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing into Spatial Planning and Monitoring
An introduction to how climate change can be incorporated into spatial conservation plans and the monitoring of impacts, using GIS and remote sensing. The workshop includes information on

California Climate Adaptation Focus
California is already experiencing the adverse effects of climate change from decreased snowpack to increased number of large forest fires. The workshop aims to identify the most vulnerable sectors, the specific adaptation approaches for both human and natural systems, and the major obstacles to adaptation in California.
Human Communities and Climate Change
An introduction to the issues of climate change impacts on the human society. The workshop focuses on environment and poverty linkages particularly on livelihoods, vulnerability and community based adaptation in the context of climate change impacts and adaptation.
Mitigation-Adaptation Link (REDD)
A discussion on linking Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) activities to reducing the vulnerability of local communities to climate change. REDD is based on the principle of protecting threatened natural forests to achieve a decrease in atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions. Specific forest mitigation actions could include both market and non-market mechanisms; however, carbon markets are the only realistic approach for generating the financial resources necessary to implement REDD at the scale necessary to impact climate change.
Climate Witness
The Climate Witness workshop introduces people to the power of communicating the human story behind the impacts of climate change that are being experienced now. The workshop outlines what Climate Witness is, the communication tools that have already been developed and where to next for developing a Climate Witness Virtual Global Community. Participants will discuss and develop practical mechanisms for how a Climate Witness can compliment and be integrated into current climate change campaigns or projects to achieve improved outcomes.

Navigating Climate Change Funding: Businesses, Foundations, and Government Relations
An introduction to the landscape of climate change funding and best practices and strategies for identifying and approaching donors. The workshop helps participants understand how to make pitches and position projects with funders and a discussion with a panel of experts to provide an insider’s view of climate change funding trends.
Climate Change Communications
The communication workshop teaches participants how to develop communications strategies related to climate change. The workshop provides information on how to define communications objectives, identify and engage target groups, frame issues, develop key messages, evaluating alternative communications resources (Web, video, etc), and measure progress.
