WWF’s Earth Hour is an event where people around the world come together to make a bold statement about their concern about climate change by doing something simple; turning off their lights for one hour.   • World's Response to Climate Change

    Climate change has been a priority for WWF for over 20 years, a period in which scientists, policy experts and conservationists have increasingly worked together to understand the causes and impact of climate change. This timeline puts WWFs work in the context of the world’s response to climate change since the late 1980’s, showing key developments in climate science and policy.

    WWF works with governments, communities and businesses around the world to change attitudes about global warming. WWF‘s expertise, partnerships and innovative programs are already yielding results such as the WWF Climate Savers program where businesses are reducing carbon emissions by over 13 million metric tons each year by 2010.
