Justification of Ecoregion Delineation
This ecoregion occupies all of Sakhalin Island with the exception of a small broadleaf zone on the southern tip. Ecoregion boundaries correspond to the central and southern taiga in the Sakhalin-Kurile forest province in Kurnaev’s (1990) forest map of the USSR.
