Building
a critical mass of skilled conservationists requires training for a broad
spectrum of individuals, from policy and decision-makers and mid-career
professionals to community and grassroots conservationists. EFN provides
opportunities for short-term, non-degree training to help those involved
in conservation to develop new skills and expertise.
Grants for short-term training are awarded in three categories: Professional
Development Grants for mid-career professionals; Conservation Workshop
Grants for institutions that conduct conservation-related training; and
Alumni Grants for former EFN Scholars and Train Fellows. These grants
help conservationists upgrade their knowledge and skills by attending
short courses, workshops, and conferences, study tours or through practical
training such as internships and professional attachments. Short-term
training grants are awarded throughout the year, on a first-come, first-served
basis, given the availability of funds.
