Small Grants for Park Guard Training in the Tropical Andes and Amazon

WWF's Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program (EFN) is currently accepting applications from organizations to host short courses and capacity-building workshops to train park guards working in protected areas (national parks, indigenous territories, private conservation areas, and extractive reserves) in the Andes and Amazon region, as defined by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. Through these short courses and workshops, EFN and the Moore Foundation hope to increase capacity of park guards in protected areas in cooperation with the national park systems in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

EFN is offering a limited number of small grants for the Tropical Andes and Amazon region of approximately $7,500 each. Organizations should have demonstrated experience hosting capacity-building workshops and training programs and a commitment to increasing the skills, abilities, and knowledge of park guards in protected areas within the Andes and Amazon. Local and regional organizations and organizations working within the national park systems on capacity-building are encouraged to apply.

Please review the guidelines carefully. Please click here to download the application form. Once the form has been completed, it should be sent along with accompanying documents to Andrea Santy at andrea.santy@wwfus.org by the application deadline: November 30, 2007.
