Partners in Conservation - A Message from Carter S. Roberts

A Message from Carter S. Roberts

The world has changed rapidly during these first few years of the 21st century. More than any other time in recent history, World Wildlife Fund has faced serious obstacles in the U.S. and around the globe as we have worked to save endangered species and their habitats and combat threats to all life on earth.

Since 2001, the U.S. has shifted critical resources and attention to fighting the war on terror. Then in late 2004, the most severe and widespread humanitarian crisis ever recorded hit Southeast Asia, as the tsunami claimed more than 200,000 lives and left more than 1 million homeless.

Despite these trying times, WWF has remained steadfast in its quest to leave a living planet for future generations, achieving important conservation results from the Northern Great Plains of the U.S. to the Terai Arc of Nepal and India.

Our mission is buoyed by Partners in Conservation, a group of WWF's most dedicated and generous supporters. Partners provide us with the flexibility to respond quickly to conservation challenges as they occur. At the same time, Partners give us a strong and stable foundation that allows us to plan ahead for the next week, next year, and next decade.

Partners should feel a sense of pride in WWF's accomplishments, for without your commitment to our cause, we would not be able to achieve lasting, positive results for the earth and all of its creatures.
