DAN SARLES serves as executive director of his family’s Boston-based Eaglemere Foundation. He directs foundation strategy, manages operations, and oversees funding of conservation and development targeted charities, including WWF, The Nature Conservancy (Massachusetts, Colorado, and Alaska chapters), Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Alaska Conservation Foundation, Oxfam, American Rivers, Charles River Watershed Association, and Doctors Without Borders. Sarles has pushed Eaglemere to support freshwater protection and restoration; bio-mimicry solutions; global climate change initiatives; and corporate delivery of products and services in more resource-efficient and less environmentally intrusive ways. In addition to his role at Eaglemere, Sarles is a managing member of Sarles Family Investments LLC, stewarding investments in venture capital, private equity, and start-up companies. He also has experience in market research for Illinois Institute of Technology’s business incubator and for Dow Chemical. Since May 2012, he has been an advisory board member at DesignerAdvantage in Newton, Massachusetts. He served as DA’s vice president of operations from 2002 to 2006, and as project manager from 2000 to 2002. He has traveled extensively, including volunteer work building schools with Building Bridges Worldwide in remote villages in Nepal, Ghana, Tanzania, and Nicaragua. Sarles received a BA in history from Princeton University, an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MS in environmental management and sustainability from Illinois Institute of Technology. Like many New England natives, he is a passionate fan of the Boston-based professional sports teams.
