What to expect: To fully enjoy this tour, you should be fit and in good general health. While the tour activities are not strenuous, there is a significant amount of long-distance travel and frequent early morning departures, which some travelers may find tiring. The tour includes some walks over sometimes uneven or muddy terrain, and many of the properties we stay at require guests to climb stairs or walk a short distance to their rooms.
Daytime temperatures average 65°-80° F. Nights can be chilly, with temperatures dipping to 50° F. Accommodations range from Western-style hotels to remote and comfortable lodges, all with private bathrooms.
A majority of the places we will visit on the tour are in the “interior” of the country and accessible by road only. As mentioned, we will have several long drives of an estimated five to seven hours in length. We’ll travel by comfortable motor coach, sometimes over unpaved, bumpy and crowded roads, with stops along the way; we also will travel by airplane. In the national parks, excursions are by open-air Jeeps.
If you bring a sense of humor, a spirit of adventure and the understanding that things don’t always go as planned, you will find this to be an experience of a lifetime!
