Bamle Tharu weeding in her field of mint (Mentha arvensis). WWF's Terai Arc Landscape (TAL) Program has brought the concept of mentha farming to many farmers in the Khata area. The crop has a good market value and is unpalatable for wildlife and therefore helps in reducing human/wildlife conflict. Due to growing demand TAL has supported installing 12 plants in as many community forests by mid-2009. Khata, Bardia district, Nepal.
