John started at the University of Virginia in the fall of 2002. His dissertation involves work he started while at WWF which is a first of it's kind species database of the world listing all species that are found in all terrestrial ecoregions. This work will be available online in the summer of 2004.

Jan started a joint Ph. D. program between the University of Idaho and Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) in the fall of 2003 working on conservation planning for field conservation in Talamanca, Costa Rica. He is currently helping Conservation Science complete an updated ecoregion analysis of Latin America and the Caribbean which we hope will be available from Island Press in early 2005.
