Nasser Olwero oversees WWF's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program including managing the GIS lab and providing GIS and RS support to the Conservation Science Program. Nasser graduated from Moi University in Kenya (undergraduate and postgraduate) with an M.Phil.degree in Environmental Science majoring in Environmental Information Systems. For his masters theses, he worked on identification of a hydrological extreme (drought) in the lake victoria basin and how this impacts livelihood hence conservation. He has since worked in conservation with a strong interest in application of information technology to wildlife ecology, trend analysis and human wildlife conflicts. He has worked in conservation projects for the past six years intitially at Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia, Central Kenya. Key projects included modelling elephant crop raiding incidents, herbivore population dynamics from aerial wildlife counts and application of NDVI imagery as asurrogate for rainfall data in data poor areas. Additionally he has experience with IT including Web design, Graphics, Database Management, Computer Networking, Linux Server Management and CAD drafting (AutoCAD).
