Now Earth Day is celebrated annually around the globe. Through the combined efforts of the U.S. government, grassroots organizations, and citizens like you, what started as a day of national environmental recognition has evolved into a world-wide campaign to protect our global environment.'

 

About Time For Change & How to Participate

Q. What is Time for Change?
A. World Wildlife Fund is asking Americans to take control over the fate of the planet during the 50 days leading up to Earth Day by challenging everyone to make a change in their lives to stop global warming, conserve our natural resources and protect the diversity of life on earth.

Through the WWF "Time for Change" Campaign, Americans are encouraged to make a commitment to conservation and share that commitment with the rest of the world. The interactive Time for Change website serves as a public forum, allowing visitors to describe what they are doing to make a difference for Earth Day and post their pledge on the website along with photos, stories or other items they'd like to share. Select pledges will be featured on the WWF Time for Change homepage each day, from March 4 through Earth Day, April 22.

WWF is also making philanthropy accessible to all Americans by organizing a nationwide coin collection during the 50 days before Earth Day to support the organization's global conservation efforts. The first 5,000 people who pledge to collect at least $50 in coins to support WWF will receive in the mail an Earth Day fundraising kit, complete with a collapsible mini recycling bin for collecting coins.

Fundraisers can donate their coins to WWF through a Coinstar_® Center in more than 12,000 participating retail locations. WWF supporters will receive a receipt for their contribution and, for donations of $50 or more, a free WWF T-shirt made of 100 percent organic cotton with the famous panda logo. Donations are also accepted by credit card through the Time for Change website, by check, through the mail, or by phone at 1-800-CALL-WWF.

Q. How will WWF use the money collected for Time For Change?
A. Your donation will help WWF meet the demand for funds from which WWF can draw to take action needed to save endangered species, as well as protect endangered spaces and address global threats. Q. When does the 2007 WWF Time for Change campaign start?
A. The campaign starts March 4, 2008 and ends on Earth Day April 22, 2008.

Q. How can I participate in the WWF Time for Change campaign?
A. You can participate in Time for Change in any or all of the following ways:

Make:
A personal commitment to make change:
Share what you will be doing for Earth Day by posting your personal commitment and photos on the Time for Change website.

A fundraising commitment to make change:

• You can donate directly to WWF online, by phone, through the mail or through a Coinstar Center
• The first 5,000 people to pledge to raise $50 or more in the 50 days leading up to Earth Day on April 22, 2008 will receive a Time for Change fundraising kit containing a collapsible mini recycling bin for collecting coins.
• For all donations of $50 or more, you will receive a FREE WWF organic t-shirt as a thank you gift.

Fundraise:
Coinstar estimates that there is more than $10 billion in change sitting idle in American homes. Collect your spare change from now until Earth Day. Check under the sofa cushions, in coat pockets, and in all the nooks and crannies where coins hide. Reach out to friends and family. What are they doing for Earth Day? Set up a collection bank at work or at school between now and Earth Day. It's Time for Change, and the more people we can include, the more we can save. Q. How can I request a fundraising kit?
A. To help you collect coins, WWF will send a free Earth Day fundraising kit to the first 5,000 people who pledge to collect at least $50 for Earth Day. To receive your fundraising kit, please log on to the WWF Time for Change website. and request a fundraising kit. You will receive a confirmation email asking you to make your pledge and provide your mailing address.

Q. Who can receive a Time for Change fundraising kit?
A. People of any ages. You must have a U.S. shipping address to receive a fundraising kit.

Q. How long will it take to receive my fundraising kit?
A. It will take approximately 2 weeks to receive your fundraising kit.

Q. I did not receive my fundraising kit
A. You must have a U.S. shipping address to receive a fundraising kit. One bank per person. Please call WWF customer service at 1-800-CALL-WWF for more information.

Q. I was told that there are no more kits available.
A. The first 5,000 people to pledge to raise $50.00 or more will receive a Time for Change fundraising kit. Only 5,000 fundraising kits are available. Fundraising kits are available while supply lasts.

Q. Are all materials free of charge?
A. While you are not required to donate to receive a Time for Change fundraising kit, you are required to make a pledge to raise $50 or more. We ask that you use your fundraising kit to fulfill your pledge and donate to WWF for Earth Day.

Q. Can I collect change even if I don't have a WWF Earth Day Bank?
A. Yes. You can make your own Earth Day bank out of a recycled household container such as a soda bottle or coffee can. Please visit the "Tools for Change" section on the WWF Time for Change website to download a Time for Change label to make your recycled bank. Make a Personal Commitment

Q. How do I make a personal commitment?
A. WWF is asking people to make a commitment to conservation and share that commitment with the rest of the world through the Time for Change website. Please visit wwfblogs.org/earthdayways/addearthday08.html to make a personal commitment. Commitments will be featured on the WWF Time for Change "Ideas for Change" page at wwfblogs.org/earthdayways/earthday08.html and homepage each day, from March 4 through Earth Day, April 22.

Q. Who can make a personal commitment?
A. People of any ages worldwide are welcome to share their personal commitments for Earth Day.

Q. Will my personal pledge appear online?
A. Yes, commitments may appear on the Time for Change website and other communications. WWF has the right to remove any content deemed inappropriate.

Q. How can I post photos?
A. We are using Flickr^™, an online photo management and sharing application owned by Yahoo!_®. Please follow these simple steps to post photos to the WWF - Earth Day group:

1. Sign up for a free Flickr account then join our "WWF - Earth Day" group.
2. Upload your favorite photos to Flickr. Under privacy options, choose "public," and put in the following tags "WWF - Earth Day". Please share why these photos are special to you and Earth Day in the "description" field and include your name and hometown in the photo title.
3. 3. Click on the Flickr photo you'd like to submit. Open the "Send to Group" icon above the photo and you should see a list of groups you belong to. Select "WWF - Earth Day". A message will appear that your photo has been added. Click "ok."

Q. How can I make a donation?

Once you are ready to donate your spare change to WWF, take your coins to a local Coinstar Center. To find a Coinstar Center near you, visit www.coinstar.com and type in your zip code on the homepage. To donate, follow the on-screen prompts to select World Wildlife Fund, code 8888. The Coinstar Center will quickly count your coins and print a receipt.

Q. Is there a deadline to turn in Time for Change donations?
A. There is no deadline to turn in Time for Change donations. However, to receive your free t-shirt for donating $50 or more to WWF, all donations must be made no later than Earth Day, April 22, 2008. All Coinstar receipts for donations made between March 4th and April 22nd, 2008 must be received by WWF no later than June 30, 2008.

 

Donate Through A Coinstar Center

Q. What is a Coinstar Center?
A. Coinstar Centers are located in more than 12,000 retail locations nationwide. Coins that Count is a partnership among Coinstar, non-profit organizations, and Coinstar retail partners. The Coins that Count donation feature allows customers to donate their spare change to participating non-profit organizations and immediately receive a tax-deductible receipt for the full value of their donation.

Q. Is my change donation tax deductible?
A. Yes, yes you will receive a tax-deductible receipt for the full value of your donation.

Q. Will I pay a fee for using a Coinstar® machine to donate coins?
A. No.

Q. Does Coinstar charge WWF a fee for this service? Will WWF receive the entire amount of my donation?
A. In order to offer this very valuable service to WWF, Coinstar must retain a nominal program fee. Even with the service fee, Coinstar is able to pass through 92.5% directly to WWF. This fee is below Coinstar's cost for implementing the program and Coinstar does not profit from this program. Coinstar donations are similar to credit-card donations, donors receive a tax-deductible receipt for the full value of their donation, but a nominal service fee is retained to implement the program. Additionally, Coinstar transmits the funds to the WWF on a daily basis, which means that the funds can be put to work right away!

Q. How do I receive a free t-shirt?
A. As a thank you gift for donations of $50 or more, you can receive a WWF organic cotton t-shirt. You can donate to Time for Change online, by mail, by phone or through a Coinstar Center. Please see Q&A above for how to make a donation to Time for Change.

Q. Who is eligible to receive a free t-shirt?
A. Anyone worldwide is eligible to receive a free t-shirt for donating $50 or more to WWF between March 4, 2008 and April 22, 2008.

Q. I made separate donations totaling $50. Why did I not receive a t-shirt?
A. To receive a free t-shirt, your donation for $50.00 or more must be received at one time. We are unable to tally donations made at different times through different channels.

Q. How long will it take to receive my t-shirt?
A. Expected delivery is 4-8 weeks.
