To ensure a future for species and places, WWF tackles the threats that impact the Earth.

Our conservation work addresses direct and indirect threats—and the forces that drive them—in order to conserve biodiversity and reduce humanity’s ecological footprint. We focus on the planet’s most urgent threats and find innovative solutions that help both people and nature.

The Ecological Footprint

The measure of human demands on Earth’s natural resources is known as our ecological footprint. Currently, we use the equivalent of 1.5 Earths to produce all the renewable resources we use. As the human population grows, the challenge of reducing our footprint becomes more urgent. Learn more about the impact of the ecological footprint
