Trip Overview

Situated high in the Tilaran Mountain Range and straddling the Continental Divide at 4,724 feet, Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of Central America’s preeminent ecotourism destinations –and an ideal one for families to tour. Whizzing through the forest via zip line is a highlight of our week-long holiday tour in this friendly and close-to-home Central American destination. In addition to the cloud forest, visit a volcano and spend time on on warm and sunny beaches.

Highlights of the tour will include:

  • Poas Volcano, one of two active volcanoes in Costa Rica's Central Mountain Range. Its crater is one of the widest in the world and is accessible by paved road almost all the way to the edge.
  • Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in Central America. It is home to more than 100 mammal species, 400 bird species, 2,500 types of plants and tens of thousands of insects. Go on exciting zip line rides through the trees.
  • A rafting trip on the Tenorio River. The gentle river is home to exotic birds, including toucans, parrots, laughing falcons and kingfishers, plus howler and white-faced monkeys, iguanas and other wildlife.
  • The beaches of Guanacaste. Enjoy an outriggers ocean canoe tour, snorkeling, a beach picnic and time with your family.
