Trip Overview

Starting from Chennai, India, sail to Sri Lanka, where you'll disembark in Trincomalee for an overnight excursion to search for wild elephants and visit the Temple of the Tooth. Reunite with the Clipper Odyssey in Colombo. Next visit Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, and go to the village of Pongumoode and its surrounding rubber plantations where we witness the various stages of rubber processing and enjoy a Kalari Payattu demonstration, Kerala's ancient form of martial arts.

Then sail to the Lakshadweep Islands for snorkeling in these rarely visited atolls. Back on the mainland, have a two-day exploration of Kochi (Cochin) that reveals this delightful community's mélange of international influences: from Portuguese houses to the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets that grace the beaches. To better explore the maze of islands and waterways here, board local houseboats for a cruise through Kochi's backwaters.

The finale of the voyage is three days spent snorkeling and diving amid large pelagic fish and stunning coral gardens in the pristine waters surrounding the Maldives.
