Why Travel with Us

Since 1983, the WWF Travel Program has taken curious travelers on wildlife-viewing expeditions throughout the world. We plan our tours with conservation and the environment in mind. Here's why you should travel with us:

Reason #1: We make a difference.
A portion of your tour cost (between 5% and 10%) is directly contributed to WWF’s general fund, to support conservation work around the world.

Reason #2: We’re choosy.
We only team up with tour operators that are committed to responsible tourism. As a result, we collaborate with some of the top U.S.-based leaders in tourism conservation.

Reason #3: We think small.
Our small group sizes ensure an intimate travel experience. For example, our land tours have a maximum size of 18 travelers; some are limited to as few as eight guests. Our small vessels also offer a wholeheartedly better travel experience vs. large cruise ships.

Reason #4: We keep our eyes peeled.
We consult WWF staff and other on-the-ground experts to help us create itineraries that maximize wildlife-viewing opportunities.

Reason #5: We sleep soundly.
We use lodges, tented camps, hotels and inns that are in harmony with their surroundings.

Reason #6: We empower.
We visit communities that are motivated to manage their natural resources, including operating communal conservancies, wildlife reserves and sustainable tourism ventures.

Reason #7: We don’t photo-op hop.
WWF travelers spend time getting to know a destination – and its wildlife. By focusing on one place, you decrease flying time and become intimately familiar with that region. You also increase your chances of seeing more wildlife, including elusive or endangered animals.

Reason #8: We know our turf.
In hiring local guides, we support their work in responsible tourism. We also provide training to guides on WWF’s work in that region and how tourism, when done properly, can be vital to communities, wildlife and habitats.

Reason #9: We tread lightly.
The only things we take away from a venture into a wild place are memories and photographs. We adhere to "leave no trace" practices on all trips. Likewise, our primary travel partner, Natural Habitat Adventures, is the world’s first carbon neutral travel company. That means it offsets 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions from its trips, its office and all operations associated with running its business. We are working with our other tour operators as well to make all WWF tours carbon neutral in the future. In addition, we encourage all travelers to consider offsetting carbon emissions.

Reason #10: We go wild.
We take you to experience wildlife and wild places above everything else. We’re open-minded, wide-eyed and passionate about protecting the planet. Our expert guides and naturalists are just as enthusiastic, too.
