Early the next morning, I take the shuttle into El Paso so that I can catch my flight back to D.C. I’m really glad that I made this trip, as I’ve been able to see a part of the ecoregion that I hadn’t seen before. These trips to the field really help me understand the complexity of the problems that we face to save this place. It’s also incredibly motivating to meet local people like Doña Hermelinda, Sr. Vallina and Robert Faubion.
