The Galápagos

Partnerships

WWF works with a range of extraordinary partners including corporations, governments, local organizations and communities. Leveraging the strength of our partners and enabling local partners to achieve sustainable conservation have been critical elements of WWF’s success in the Galápagos.

  • WWF, together with the Galápagos National Park Service, conserves the biodiversity of the Galápagos waters by supporting effective management and governance of the reserve.
  • WWF works with the government of Ecuador to carry out our conservation objectives by working at all levels – from local municipalities to the ministries of environment and energy - to affect policy, to build institutional capacity to monitor tourism, and to provide management to protected areas.
  • WWF, with USAID funding, leads an alliance of international, national and local conservation organizations to strengthen the governance and management of the Galápagos marine protected areas.
  • WWF partners with Toyota to pair our conservation expertise with Toyota North America’s cutting-edge technology to transform the Galápagos into a model for clean energy and sustainable waste management.
  • WWF and Fundacion Natura strengthen the Galápagos’ commitment to conservation by sharing important information between conservation groups that promote sustainable policy recommendations among key decision makers.
  • WWF and the Charles Darwin Foundation were driving forces in the establishment of the Galápagos Special Law. Through this partnership, we work with local stakeholders, including, the tourism and fishing sectors, toward the sustainable development of the islands.
