About Christopher Williams:

When you meet someone with 17 years in the conservation movement, including the last 14 at WWF, you might expect the first words out of his mouth to be about species conservation. But Chris, who coordinates water resource management projects around the globe, is just as likely to talk about the needs of humans - who share with other species an absolute need for fresh, drinkable water. "More than any environmental issue that I have ever worked on," Chris says, "this is at the crossroads of people and nature."

It's a logical progression for this internationally prominent conservationist whose environmental awareness emerged during childhood. "It was the 1970s and everyone was talking about the ecological crisis, the Cuyahoga River burning, the disappearance of the bald eagle. I remember thinking that somebody needs to do something to take care of the planet and I should be one of those people." So after obtaining a doctorate in environmental law and policy, Chris found a home at WWF. "I started out working with species, then moved on to habitats, and from there to large ecological systems."
