WASHINGTON - World Wildlife Fund and Coinstar, Inc. will jumpstart Earth Day awareness with a special promotion to raise funds for WWF conservation programs. From April through June, a promotional screen on Coinstar® Center kiosks will inform patrons about the plight of endangered wildlife and encourage them to donate their loose change to WWF. People who donate $15 or more during these months will have the opportunity to receive a one-year WWF membership and Li MeiTM, a limited-edition giant panda Ty Beanie Baby®.

"This eye-catching and educational promotion not only spreads the word about global environmental threats, but encourages patrons to make a difference by supporting our work to combat these threats," said Terry Macko, vice president of membership at World Wildlife Fund.

This promotion builds on the existing WWF-Coinstar partnership, which offers a "donate" option on participating Coinstar® Centers for people to give their loose change to WWF instead of converting it to cash. Donors simply follow the on-screen menu, select WWF or COIN #8888, and deposit the coins into the machine. The machine prints out a tax-deductible receipt for the donation.

"We are very pleased to assist World Wildlife Fund in raising funds to protect endangered species and their habitats," said Alex Camara, senior vice president and general manager of worldwide coin, Coinstar, Inc. "With more than 220 million Americans living within five miles of a Coinstar Center, Coinstar is an easy and convenient way to donate spare change. If just half of those individuals donated $1 in loose change, it would mean more than $110 million for WWF."

There are more than 12,000 Coinstar® Centers in grocery stores nationwide. Donations made to World Wildlife Fund through Coinstar Centers support WWF's conservation programs worldwide.
