Washington DC - An intricately carved Royal Bengal Tiger by Gail H. of Vienna, West Virginia, won the WWF and HP online photo contest "Going Wild with Pumpkins". Gail used a special stencil from among 10 wildlife-themed designs aimed at raising awareness of wildlife and environmental issues, and won an HP Photosmart photo printer and digital camera.

WWF and HP wanted to engage families in an activity that highlighted important conservation issues ranging from saving endangered species to conserving wild spaces and encouraged everyone to have a "green" Halloween. Participants took photos of their carved pumpkins and uploaded them to snapfish.com where the general public could vote for their favorites. Five runners-up won HP Photosmart digital cameras and the top-100 rated photos will receive WWF panda t-shirts.

"This Halloween, Gail's entry for the 'Going Wild with Pumpkins' contest is a scary reminder that species like the tiger are on the brink of extinction," said Terry Macko, vice president of membership and marketing, WWF. "WWF is always excited about new ways to connect with people on conservation and this contest with HP combined a family Halloween activity with raising awareness on critical conservation issues."

"Going Wild with Pumpkins" is not the only joint initiative taken by WWF and HP. Since November 2006, the global conservation organization and HP have collaborated on several pioneering enterprises to address the causes and consequences of climate change. HP has committed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions at its operating facilities worldwide by 15 percent below 2006 levels by 2010, educate and inspire others to adopt best practices, and use HP technology in conservation efforts around the world. In May 2007 HP also announced it would allocate more than $2 million and HP equipment to WWF. The funds will establish three projects furthering WWF's climate adaptation and resilience work.
