GALAPAGOS- Beginning January 21, visitors to the Galapagos Islands aboard Ecoventura's yachts can help protect its extraordinary plant, animal, and marine life through voluntary donations to the new Galapagos Marine Biodiversity Fund established in partnership with World Wildlife Fund. WWF will manage the fund which will support conservation projects related to marine conservation and education, and if needed, to respond to ecological emergencies such as oil spills.

Ecoventura and World Wildlife Fund recognize the global importance of the Galápagos Islands' unique wildlife. A stunning number of animals live on and around the archipelago, and many of these are found nowhere else on earth. In the waters of the Galapagos, some 300 species of fish swim with seven species of sharks, rays, turtles, penguins and marine iguanas above a vast array of urchins, sea cucumbers, crabs, anemones, sponges and corals.

Both organizations are interested in seeing the rich marine resources and invaluable seascapes protected. Thus Ecoventura and WWF will work together to raise resources in support of the conservation of the Galápagos Islands.

For more than 40 years, WWF has worked to support conservation of the Galápagos Islands in close collaboration with the Galápagos National Park Service and other conservation organizations.

Ecoventura, a Galapagos tour company certified as a SmartVoyager by the Rainforest Alliance, believes that experiencing the Galapagos should come with the responsibility of helping to preserve its natural assets. Therefore it encourages-but does not expect-its guests to support its protection through the Galapagos Marine Biodiversity Fund.
