Justification of Ecoregion Delineation

This ecoregion is equivalent to the DMEER (2000) unit of the same name. The boundaries of this unit are primarily a product of the DMEER delineation process, and the ecoregion includes flood-plain vegetation and moist lowland forests, lowland to submontane acidophilous oak and mixed oak forests, and ombrotrophic mires of northwestern Ireland and Scotland (Bohn et al. 2000).
