What’s Hot at COP20: 11th of December

We’re onto the eleventh day of #COP20 here in Lima, Peru. Below is a quick snapshot of today’s big stories.

Yesterday an estimated 15,000 people took to the streets of Lima for the #PeoplesClimate March in support of urgent action on climate change.

Today’s Big Point

It’s critical that countries act now…not down the road. Science tells us that we need to peak global greenhouse gas emissions before 2020 to avoid the worst effects of climate change, like worsening floods, droughts and extreme weather.

Today’s Big Event

US Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to speak later today at in the negotiations. “As President Obama's top diplomat, we hope Secretary Kerry will use his well-known diplomatic acumen to unlock critical political issues and reenergize the talks,” says Lou leonard, Vice President of Climate Change at WWF.
