Matheus De Nardo, a senior program officer on WWF's Forests team, collaborates with WWF program offices worldwide to design, implement, and monitor nature-based solutions in priority landscapes. He oversees a diverse portfolio of high-quality, place-based conservation initiatives, including in the Upper Parana and Central Corridor landscapes of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil as part of WWF’s Nature-Based Solutions Origination Platform. He also oversees similar initiatives in Indonesia’s Sarmi-Jayapura and South Papua landscapes.

His work emphasizes landscape-level restoration, protected areas, and Indigenous and local community-led forest conservation, focusing on achieving measurable and inclusive climate, nature, and social impacts. Matheus previously led social impact evaluations at WWF and comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, and learning initiatives for conservation interventions. Prior to WWF, Matheus supported monitoring and evaluation at the US National Park Service and Conservation International.

Matheus’s career includes experience working across Brazil, Indonesia, Peru, Mozambique, Bhutan, and the United States, contributing to a broad spectrum of conservation projects. He holds a Master of Science in Environment and Natural Resources with a specialization in international conservation and sustainable development from Ohio State University. Fluent in Portuguese and English, Matheus also speaks Spanish, Indonesian, and French.
