BARBARA BECK was chief executive officer of Learning Care Group (LCG) from 2011 until she retired in 2019. LCG is the second-largest early childhood educator in North America, teaching over 100,000 preschool children per day through innovative curriculum that incorporates lessons in preserving our planet through conservation of water and electricity, recycling programs, and protection of wildlife. Prior to joining LCG, Beck was based overseas as president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa for global staffing firm Manpower, where she was greatly influenced by the European focus on sustainability and conservation strategies. Since 2008, she has been an outside director of Ecolab, the award-winning, corporate sustainability global leader in water, hygiene, and energy technologies. Beck’s passion for conservation began during her childhood in Colorado and is shared by her husband, Randy, and their two adult daughters. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder and has been a member of the Women’s Leadership Board at the Harvard Kennedy School since 2007.
