LACY CARUTHERS is a principal at Google.org, where she oversees energy and environmental giving. Her team leads Google's Global Impact Awards program and broader charitable efforts, which include a $50 million+ yearly budget in support of tech innovators driving social impact at scale. Caruthers joined Google in 2006 as one of the founding members of the Energy and Sustainability team. On that team, she led a broad range of strategic sustainability initiatives, including the development of Google’s renewable energy project investment program, which has committed over $1 billion to clean energy projects. Prior to joining Google, Caruthers worked on corporate sustainability issues in the UK. She holds a BS in earth systems from Stanford University, and an MSc with distinction in environmental policy and economics from the London School of Economics. She is a LEED AP and serves on the board of NatureBridge Yosemite, a nonprofit that provides residential environmental education to youth in national parks. She lives in San Francisco with her husband Drew.
