REBECCA EISEN attended the University of California, Berkeley as an undergraduate and received her law degree from the University of San Francisco. She worked as an attorney specializing in employment law for 35 years before her retirement in 2015. For most of those years, Eisen has been an avid birder, traveling widely to see the world’s birds and wildlife. She has served as a member and chair of several boards, including the Oakland Rent Control Board, the Board of the Magic Theatre, and the Board of the Oakland School for the Arts. She was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the board of the nation’s largest 4-year university, the California State University, and by Governor Gavin Newsom to the Bay Conservation and Development Commission, a state agency charged with the protection of the San Francisco Bay. Eisen has been a supporter and advocate for the World Wildlife Fund for many years and was one of the original supporters of WWF’s diversity-focused BRIDGE summer internship program. She and her husband, who works in the development of large scale renewable energy projects, live in Oakland, California.
