Marco Gaiotti discovered his passion for nature photography gradually, over years of travel to remote places. Initially fascinated by landscapes, he later began focusing on the wildlife that inhabit them—from Arctic foxes in Norway to orangutans in Borneo and giraffes in Kenya—all of which are under increasing pressure from threats like climate change and habitat loss. He says that with these images, he “aims to pay tribute to the remnants of terrestrial ecosystems where diverse forms of life still find a sanctuary” and to “depict the deep connection between animals and their habitats.”
