Dispatch from the Field: Northern Great Plains Grassland Bird Survey

A few weeks ago, Kevin Ellison, WWF Northern Great Plains Grassland Bird Ecologist, was in the field and recorded a brief update to provide you with a glimpse into WWF’s efforts to protect grassland birds and their habitat—work made possible by your generous support.

In this Dispatch from the Field, Kevin discusses the importance of healthy grasslands for native birds,  and the value of WWF’s work with private landowners to conserve the Northern Great Plains. Programs that help ranching families continue to graze cattle and, thus, keep land in grass, are a cost-effective long-term strategy for maintaining grassland bird habitat in all regions.

Your commitment to the Northern Great Plains is ensuring a brighter future for this special place, its remarkable wildlife, and the people who call it home. Thank you.
