Qualified Charitable Distributions

Qualified Charitable Distributions from Your IRA

Looking to make a powerful impact on wildlife without affecting your monthly budget? If you are 70½ or older and have a traditional Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you are eligible to make a gift from your IRA to WWF. These gifts, called Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs–also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers), can be made whether or not you itemize your deductions on your tax return. In many cases, these gifts are 100% tax-free, allowing you to protect wildlife without increasing your taxable income. Contact us today!

To qualify

  • You must be age 70½ or older at the time you make your gift.
  • Transfers must be made directly from a traditional or Roth IRA account to WWF.
  • Gift must be outright with no material benefits received and cannot be used to fund gift annuities.

There are 2 ways to make a gift from your IRA

Qualified charitable distributions:

  • Can total up to $100,000 per year.
  • Can be used to satisfy your required withdrawal.
  • May be excluded from gross income for federal income tax purposes.

So that we may accurately record your gift, provide your tax receipt, and acknowledge you properly, please take the extra step of contacting us via phone at 1-800-960-0993 or email at [email protected] to let us know your gift is on the way. This will augment the information provided by your financial institution and ensure smooth processing of your gift.

One last thing

If you're under the age of 70½, you can still use your IRA to make a meaningful gift to WWF by making WWF a beneficiary of your retirement plan. For more information, please click here or contact our Gift Planning office.
