Ibnu Abas is a 50-year-old fisherman in the village of Paton Makur near Calang, Indonesia. He has seven children: four daughters and three sons. He lost is 13-year-old son to the tsunami. The American Red Cross provided the water and sanitation to his new house (built by the UN). His children participate in ARC activities, such as handwashing training. Mr. Abas is also starting training with the ARC and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to learn about sustainable fishing and improve his livelihood.
