WASHINGTON DC, April 6, 2009 – In the run up to this year’s Earth Day (April 22), World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is encouraging people of all ages to make a pledge for change in the fight to save endangered species, protect endangered habitats and address global threats such as deforestation, overfishing and climate change.
WWF is asking people of all ages worldwide to make and share their personal commitment to help save the planet. The interactive “Time for Change” website serves as a public forum, allowing visitors to describe what they are doing to make a difference for Earth Day and post their pledge on the website along with stories, photos and other items they would like to share. Select pledges will be featured on the WWF Time for Change web site each day through Earth Day, April 22.
In addition, WWF is also asking America to support WWF’s global conservation efforts by donating to WWF online, by phone, through the mail or at any of over 12,000 participating Coinstar Centers® nationwide. WWF supporters will receive a receipt for their contribution -- and for single receipts showing a donation of $50 or more, mailed to WWF, a set of three WWF recycling bins. “Earth Day gives us the opportunity every year to think of our way of life, our aspirations, and the worthy causes we support,” says Terry Macko, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of World Wildlife Fund. “WWF’s Time for Change enables anyone the opportunity to make a difference by making a change in their life for the benefit of the earth. If we each make a little change, together we can make a big difference.”
