WWF Response to the Release of the Global Water Strategy

In response to the release of the Global Water Strategy by the US Department of State and the US Agency for International Development, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released the following statement from Karin Krchnak, director of WWF’s freshwater program:

“The development of the Global Water Strategy by the federal government is no small achievement; it represents a holistic understanding of the changing global uses and needs of freshwater and addresses them through its strategic objectives. Climate change, population growth, changing consumption patterns and more are putting our freshwater systems increasingly at risk and the need for a whole-of-government strategy to address these issues is abundantly clear.”

“Moving forward, it is crucial that metrics are developed and results promptly assessed to ensure progress across all strategic objectives. Addressing challenges sooner rather than later will help ensure successful implementation and bring us closer to a sustainable and water-secure future.”
