WWF Statement on the Administration’s Proposed List of Seafood Species At-Risk of Illegal Fishing

In response to the release today by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of a proposed list of seafood species to be considered “at risk” for illegal fishing, WWF issued the following statement from Michele Kuruc, Vice President for Ocean Policy:

“The Administration’s proposed list includes a number of important species that clearly require high priority attention in the fight against black market fishing. However, the proposal falls far short of identifying all of the seafood at significant risk of being illegally caught.

"Before leaving office, the Administration must lock-in regulations to address black market fishing that include a clear timeframe for implementation for all seafood.”
