In response to tonight’s State of the Union address by President Donald J. Trump, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from Todd Shelton, vice president for U.S. government relations:
“It’s clear that the President sees economic growth and energy production as priorities for his administration. As our nation moves forward designing the next generation of American infrastructure, we can choose to follow the lead of cities, states and big and small businesses who are prioritizing investments in 21st century technologies such as clean, renewable energy.
“Clean energy jobs already outpace those from dirtier sources so investments like these can shift the economy into higher gear and foster safer, more prosperous communities for years to come. And following a year in which natural disasters imposed over $300 billion in costs on communities from Miami to Houston to San Juan, it’s more vital than ever that renewable energy and climate resiliency are central principles as we consider the kind of America we want to build for the coming century.”
