WWF Perspectives Paper: The Role of Regenerative Agriculture to Drive Food Systems Transformation

Feeding ten billion people sustainably and equitably by 2050 is one of humanity’s greatest challenges. COP28 provides a crucial opportunity to transform global food systems to confront the climate crisis and protect nature. The diversity of food systems and stakeholders around the world means that there are many different approaches and frameworks to achieve food systems transformation. This paper outlines WWF’s perspective on fundamental principles which should inform the dialogue around food systems transformation. With these principles, WWF seeks to find common ground between the interests of a diverse set of approaches to catalyze systems change at scale: agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and nature-positive production.
