GEF Agency

WWF and the GEF have a rich history of partnership and mutual support. At the first United Nations Earth Summit in Rio in 1992, WWF was an active participant in the international negotiations to establish the GEF. We have since been a supporter of its policies and operations, participating in the design or execution of more than 100 GEF programs and projects. In 2013, WWF-US was accredited as a GEF Agency, on behalf of the WWF Network, and we now have an active portfolio of projects.

GEF Projects

The accreditation of WWF as a GEF Project Agency represents an opportunity to support WWF conservation goals through transformational projects. As a GEF agency, WWF’s goal is to facilitate GEF recipient countries to develop strategic solutions that address their complex environmental challenges, aligned with WWF priorities.
