Knit a penguin sweater or a tiger hat, all to protect nature
WWF invites people across the US to pick up their needles, get cozy, and Knit for Nature—a nostalgic, feel-good way to celebrate the holiday season and beyond while helping protect nature.

Back in 1989, renowned knitwear designer Ruth Herring co-created Knitting Wildlife, a book of wildlife-themed patterns that helped raise vital funds for conservation. Inspired by those original designs, Ruth has re-imagined the collection for 2025, bringing retro charm into modern, wearable knitwear.
These vintage-inspired, wildlife-themed patterns, including patterns for a penguin sweater, are free to download, with an optional donation to support WWF’s global conservation work.
