Suzy Friedman

Senior Director, Great Plains Policy

Suzy Friedman is the Senior Director for Great Plains Policy at WWF, where she serves as policy lead for the WWF-US Great Plains Team, collaboratively developing policy goals and initiatives to advance grassland conservation and restoration; address conversion; improve ecological function through improved management; support bison, black footed ferret and beaver restoration; elevate community-led conservation; and advance sustainable financing. She engages in strategic partnerships to advance policy in support of the Great Plains 2030 strategy.

Before joining WWF, Suzy served as Vice President for Policy at the National Alliance for Forest Owners. Between 2001 and 2020, she played a lead role in the Environmental Defense Fund’s work to build resilience and sustainability of the U.S. agricultural system. To this end, she collaborated with farmers, grower organizations, agribusinesses, food companies and retailers, focusing on outcomes for climate stability, clean water, and farm productivity. Suzy serves on several boards and steering committees, including Leading Harvest, AGree, the Land Use Change Initiative, and the Midwest Row Crop Collaborative.

She holds a bachelor's degree in history and environmental studies from Princeton University and a master's in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University.
