WWF and HP Inc. expand conservation commitment to Viet Nam and Mexico

WWF and HP Inc. are excited to announce the continued expansion of their global partnership with the launch of conservation efforts in two new forest landscapes in Viet Nam and Mexico. With this move, they are deepening their shared commitment to advancing responsible forest management and sustainable livelihoods in communities around the globe.

The work in these two landscapes builds upon an existing partnership across Brazil’s Atlantic Forest; Peru’s Madre de Dios region; Australia’s Eastern Forests; and key forest provinces in eastern and southern China. Since 2020, HP Inc. and WWF have designed and implemented conservation solutions across over 600,000 acres of forests in these areas, with a goal of another 400,000 acres by 2030.

Viet Nam Central Annamites

In January 2026, HP Inc. and WWF initiated a four-year program in Viet Nam’s Central Annamites to improve the management of nearly 30,000 acres of production forest.

Covering more than 12.8 million acres, the Central Annamites landscape is considered a globally significant hot spot and one of mainland Asia’s largest contiguous natural forests. This magnificent landscape faces myriad threats from illegal logging and poaching, expansion of tree plantations, deforestation and mining, and unsustainable agriculture expansion and infrastructure development.

This partnership in Viet Nam will support smallholders and forestry companies in adopting better management practices aligned with global standards. Activities will include improving forest management toward Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification, planting native tree species within plantations and buffer zones to strengthen forest resilience to climate change, and enhancing biodiversity while equipping local authorities and communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to support sustainable livelihoods.

Mexico Yucatán Peninsula

In Mexico, the partnership is launching a three-year program in the Yucatán Peninsula. The Selva Maya, the largest tropical rainforest in Mesoamerica, located in this region is a critical conservation landscape brimming with extraordinary biodiversity, including species such as the jaguar, tapir, and white-lipped peccary. Home to the Maya people, the region also holds deep cultural and historical significance. Nevertheless, it faces many threats driving deforestation and nature loss, ranging from agricultural and livestock expansion, unsustainable infrastructure development, to freshwater pollution from unsustainable production practices.

Beginning in January 2026, HP Inc. and WWF are working in Mexico to conserve key ecosystems and species while strengthening sustainable livelihoods for communities living in the Yucatán Peninsula. This project will entail engaging with 225 local producers across more than 24,000 acres to support the transition toward more sustainable farming in the milpa maya, beekeeping, and ranching practices. By reducing deforestation, improving wildlife habitat connectivity, and strengthening local leadership in conservation and local livelihoods, this initiative aims to protect one of the region’s most important ecosystems while enhancing long-term economic opportunities for local communities.

WWF and HP Inc.’s longstanding partnership underscores the value of collaboration between conservation organizations and businesses. One of the first companies to join WWF's Forests Forward corporate engagement program, HP is collaborating with WWF on solutions that will enhance sustainable forestry practices, protect wild spaces, and restore forests for the benefit of people and nature.

These efforts are realized in part through WWF's Nature-Based Solutions Origination Platform (NbS-OP), which identifies and implements high-integrity interventions in priority tropical forest landscapes to address nature loss and foster sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience.
