Join WWF for
Lobby Day 2020
March 9-10, 2020
The future of nature is at stake. As constituents and citizens, it's up to us to share our concerns and hopes for conservation and to hold our elected leaders accountable.
WWF's Lobby Day is a two-day event that culminates with one-on-one meetings on Capitol Hill to influence lawmakers on WWF's conservation priorities. Before taking to the hill, participants will receive immersive training on the most effective ways of being citizen advocates, and how best to communicate WWF's top priorities to their elected officials.
How WWF Will Prepare You for Lobby Day
After you register for Lobby Day and are confirmed to attend, you will work closely with WWF staff to develop talking points and prepare for meetings with Congressional offices.
The two-day experience kicks off on Monday, March 9th with a training day. This training at WWF's headquarters in Washington, DC will cover a review of how Congress functions, offer practice briefing sessions, and get a policy guide specific to the meetings they will embark on the following day. Participants will be grouped with three to five other activists with whom they’ll attend meetings on Lobby Day. A panel of WWF staff will present overall strategy and answer any questions. By the end of the day, activists will feel comfortable and confident about speaking with representatives and sharing WWF's environmental priorities.
On Lobby Day (Tuesday, March 10th), groups will congregate on Capitol Hill for a day of meetings with legislators at the US Capitol Building.

Become a WWF Lobby Day Team Lead
We are looking for volunteers to serve as Team Leaders. As a Team Leader, you will gain valuable leadership experience by helping prepare participants for their legislative appointments, and you’ll act as the main contact between WWF and your group on Lobby Day.
Team Leads are responsible for:
- Knowing background and relevant positions of assigned legislators (provided by WWF)
- Leading your team from one assigned legislative meeting to the next throughout the day
- Introducing your group as a WWF delegation
- Steering the general discussion of the meeting and bringing a "leave behind" folder
- Reporting back on out how the meetings went after Lobby Day
Team Leads are NOT responsible for recruiting teams, and are NOT required to do all the talking. The discussion should be constituent driven, with different people speaking to various talking points.
