Why climate change matters

Climate change and nature loss are among the defining challenges of our time. Across the world, rising temperatures, ecosystem degradation, and biodiversity loss are placing growing pressure on the natural systems that sustain life and the communities and economies that depend on them.

Cutting greenhouse gas emissions is essential to slowing these impacts. But the challenge is growing more urgent: many of the natural systems we depend on are being pushed toward tipping points where small changes can trigger rapid and irreversible damage.
